Physical Therapy

At Dr. Pinocchio Pediatric Wellness Center, our physical therapy services support the development of strength, coordination, alignment, and motor skills needed for children to move confidently and participate fully in their daily lives. Our physical therapists provide individualized, evidence-based care to help children improve mobility, physical function, and overall independence from infancy through adolescence.

We support children across a wide range of areas, including:

  • Gross motor development, including rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, and walking
  • Delayed motor milestones
  • Torticollis and plagiocephaly (head and neck positioning and head shape concerns)
  • Infant development, including specialized care following NICU discharge
  • Body alignment and movement patterns that impact feeding and overall function
  • Toe walking
  • Hypermobility and joint instability
  • Flat feet and lower extremity alignment
  • Balance, coordination, and frequent falls
  • Postural control and core strength
  • Endurance and physical stamina for play and daily activities
  • Recovery from injury, surgery, or medical conditions affecting movement

Many families seek physical therapy when their child is not meeting motor milestones, shows a head preference or flat spot, appears less coordinated than peers, walks on their toes, or has difficulty keeping up with physical activities. Our therapists complete a comprehensive assessment to identify each child’s unique needs and develop a personalized treatment plan to support optimal development.

Specialized Infant Care and Post-Release Bodywork

Our physical therapist has specialized training in the treatment of infants, including those recently discharged from the NICU. We provide expert care for torticollis and plagiocephaly, supporting improved head shape, alignment, and symmetrical movement patterns during this critical stage of development.

We also provide bodywork to support alignment, mobility, and coordination following tongue tie and lip tie release procedures. These gentle, targeted interventions help improve oral function, reduce compensatory movement patterns, and support feeding success in collaboration with your child’s feeding team.

A Collaborative Approach That Extends Beyond the Therapy Room

Parent involvement is a central component of therapy. We provide hands-on education and coaching so caregivers feel confident supporting their child’s development at home. This includes positioning strategies, exercises, and practical recommendations that can be incorporated into daily routines.

Our goal is to help each child develop the strength, alignment, and motor skills needed to move efficiently, explore their environment, and participate fully in their daily life.

Dr. Pinocchio Pediatric Wellness Center is proud to provide specialized pediatric physical therapy services, including expert care for infants and complex developmental needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Children may benefit from physical therapy if they are delayed in motor milestones, show a strong preference for one side of their body, walk on their toes, fall frequently, or appear less coordinated than peers. Infants may benefit if they have head shape concerns, head turning preference, or difficulty with positioning. A physical therapy evaluation can help determine whether support would be beneficial.

As early as possible. Early intervention is highly effective because infants’ bodies are rapidly developing and more responsive to treatment. Addressing head shape and alignment early can support symmetrical development and prevent secondary motor delays.

Yes. Physical therapy can help improve body alignment, mobility, and coordination following a tongue tie or lip tie release. Some infants develop compensatory movement patterns that affect feeding and overall function. Gentle, targeted treatment can support improved movement and feeding outcomes.

Sessions are play-based and tailored to your child’s developmental level. The therapist guides your child through activities designed to improve strength, balance, coordination, and movement patterns. Parents are also provided with education and exercises to support progress at home.

In many cases, a referral is not required. Please contact our office, and we can help guide you through the process based on your child’s needs and insurance requirements.
